From Morris to Ikea: Beautiful and Affordable Interiors for all
Stephen Taylor

Venue:     Iden Green Pavilion, TN17 4HB

Time:        9.30 am - 2.30 pm

Price:        £35 including coffee/tea and lunch with a glass of wine/soft drink

Join us on a journey through the dramatic changes in interior design from the Victorian home to the present day.

Session 1: William Morris had revolutionary ideas about beauty and the value of craft. His work dramatically changed the fashions and ideologies of the Victorian era, and his designs remain as influential and important today as they were in his own time.

Session 2: With the advent of designers like Frank Lloyd Wright, in the early part of the twentieth century, came the application of modern materials and industrial production to interior decor and the pioneering design ideas of the Vienna Secession.

Session 3: Scandinavian design in the 1940s and 50s re-introduced ‘natural’ materials to modern factory-produced design. Thus Morris’s problem of making craft values available to all was solved - IKEA was born and today features in millions of homes all over the world.

Put the date in your diary!  Booking will open at the end of November.
